A useful starting point
Dry and liquid measuring tools are designed around different ways of filling and reading a quantity. A liquid cup may provide room above its graduations, while a dry measure is often filled to its rim according to the recipe’s method.
Keep it in your kitchen notes
Match the tool to the instruction and read the markings carefully. Use the recipe’s specified measurement method rather than assuming every household mug represents the same quantity. Check the unit system used by the author. Record any tool-specific uncertainty in your notes; changing a measuring vessel can alter a recipe even when the number written beside it stays the same.
