A useful starting point
When an ingredient is described as divided, the total quantity may be allocated across several steps. Adding it all at the first mention can change the method. The recipe should explain how much belongs to each stage.
Keep it in your kitchen notes
Find every use of that ingredient and write the amounts beside the corresponding steps. Check that they account for the total stated quantity. If the instructions do not reconcile, ask the author or choose another recipe. Use clearly labelled small containers when helpful, while keeping appropriate storage. Your preparation notes should clarify the published method rather than quietly repair an unexplained discrepancy.
