A useful starting point
An oven setting and the food’s internal temperature answer different questions. A preheating step prepares the appliance environment; it does not confirm that the food later reaches an appropriate internal temperature. Appliance modes can also differ.
Keep it in your kitchen notes
Check the temperature scale, mode and preheating instruction before cooking. Use the manufacturer’s guidance for the appliance and the recipe author’s compatible method. Apply the appropriate food-safety temperature guidance where needed, rather than relying on the setting alone. Keep those checks separate in your notes so a successful preheat is not mistaken for verification of the finished food.
