Preparation, Cooking and Waiting Time

Separate active work from time that must still pass.

A useful starting point

A recipe’s preparation estimate may not include a long resting or chilling step. Cooking time also does not describe every minute needed to organise, preheat and serve. Read the method to understand what the headline estimate includes.

Keep it in your kitchen notes

Sketch a simple timeline with active tasks and waiting periods. Add the equipment preparation required by the recipe and allow for your own pace. Do not shorten a safety-related cooking or cooling requirement to fit the schedule. Planning the sequence can make a meal less rushed while keeping the recipe’s essential instructions and applicable food-safety checks intact.
