A useful starting point
A recipe producing twelve small pieces and one described as serving four may refer to different portion assumptions. Yield helps organise a meal, but it does not tell you what every person will want to eat or establish a dietary recommendation.
Keep it in your kitchen notes
Note whether the yield refers to portions, individual items or a final volume. Compare it with the recipe’s equipment and method before scaling. When recording your own attempt, describe the actual finished quantity without turning that observation into a universal serving rule. A clear yield note is useful for planning purchases and coordination, not a promise about nutrition or appetite.
