A useful starting point
Recipe verbs describe different intended actions, and substituting one casually can change a mixture. A method may also specify an endpoint, such as combining ingredients, rather than asking for a fixed amount of vigorous work.
Keep it in your kitchen notes
Read the action together with its tool and endpoint. Consult a beginner cooking reference if the term is unfamiliar, and practise only in an appropriate ordinary cooking context. Record which action the recipe actually asks for instead of reducing every step to mix. Clear language helps a reader understand the method; an article cannot demonstrate every technique for every ingredient.
